Extended certificate includes 3 mandatory units and 2 optional units. The mandatory units are: • Body systems and the effects of physical activity – external assessment. • Sports coaching and activity leadership - internal assessment. • Sports organisation and development - external assessment. Optional units (specialist pathways available in sports coaching or personal training) include performance analysis in sport and exercise, organisation of sports events, biomechanics and movement analysis,nutrition and diet for sport and exercise, health and fitness testing for sport andexercise, sport injuries and rehabilitation, practical skills in sport and physical activities and sport and exercise psychology
For Level 3 courses the minimum requirement is 5 x GCSE grades at 4/5 and above (normally including English and Maths) including a minimum of a grade 4/5 in the subjects you wish to study. Minimum Subject Specific Requirements 5 x GCSE Grades 4 or above.
Pass, merit, distinction or distinction* grading. There is a mixture of external examinations and internally assessed tasks.
