Course summary
All learners will study the content of the pure core Mathematics. Learners will also study two areas from optional paper areas, Statistics, Mechanics, Discrete Mathematics and Additional Pure Mathematics. The optional papers will be a choice of two from Statistics, Mechanics and Decision Maths, depending on which is the most appropriate combination in any given year. The final decision will rest with the Subject Leader. Maths is one of the best subjects to develop your analytical, research and problem solving skills. Skills that Maths helps to develop include the following: • critical thinking • problem solving • analytical thinking • quantitative reasoning • manipulating precise and intricate ideas • construct logical arguments and expose illogical arguments • communication • time management • teamwork • independence
