Learners will also study two areas from optional paper areas, Statistics, Mechanics, Discrete Mathematics and Additional Pure Mathematics. The optional papers will be a choice of two from Statistics, Mechanics and Decision Maths, depending on which is the most appropriate combination in any given year. The final decision will rest with the Subject Leader. Maths is one of the best subjects to develop your analytical, research and problem solving skills. - Minimum prior attainment which must be achieved to enrol on this course: APS of 5.5 including grade 8 or above in Maths GCSE and enrolled on the Mathematics A level - Best 8 APS of 5.5+, including grade 5 in GCSE English & Maths. If you have studied a subject at GCSE and wish to study it at A Level, a minimum of a grade 5 pass is required.
