Studying Science will take you into all sorts of fascinating careers. The UK is particularly strong in aerospace, biotechnology and medical technology. On this course you will have the opportunity to study a range of science modules and units focussing on Chemistry and Biology. Your units are linked to the application of science and will develop your investigative skills. Year 1: Principles & Application of Science 1; Practical Scientific Procedures & Techniques; Science Investigation Skills; Laboratory Techniques & Application; and Physiology of Human Body Systems. Year 2: Principles & Applications of Science 2; Investigative Project; Contemporary Issues in Science; Applications of Organic Chemistry; Forensic Evidence, Collection & Analysis; and Genetics and Genetic Enginering.
You need five GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade 9-4 (A*-C) including English Language or Maths with a minimum grade 3 for the other subject. You will also need GCSE Combined Science or grade 4 (Cs) in two of the following: GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics, or a Level 2 Diploma in Applied Science at merit level.
There are a variety of assessment methods including; examinations, written coursework, presentations and practical experiments. You will be assessed throughout the programme.
