Course summary

The BTEC Level 3 in Health and Social Care provides much of the underpinning knowledge for the National Occupational Standards in Health and Social Care and consequently acts as a robust introduction to both sectors. It prepares learners for employment in the sector or for higher education. Learners will benefit from gaining a number of mandatory units as well as a range of specialist units. Mandatory units include: • Human Lifespan Development • Working in Health and Social Care • Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care • Enquiries into Current Research in Health and Social Care • Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs • Work Experience in Health and Social Care • Principles of Safe Practice in Health and Social Care • Promoting Public Health

Entry requirements

You will need 4 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C) or above, including English or Maths. OR Successful completion of a full Level 2 in Health & Social Care. In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.

How you'll be assessed

We want you to achieve to the very best of your ability at CRC. To make this happen we offer both learning and personal support by specialist staff tailored to meet your specific needs. Your tutors will use a variety of assessment methods such as case studies, projects and presentations to obtain evidence of your skills and knowledge to date. You may also be given work-based or time-constrained assignments where your performance will be observed and assessed.
