Great importance is also placed on reliability requiring regular attendance and punctuality. You will be advised of any materials you will need to purchase for your course when you attend the Welcome Event/Progression interview. This qualification covers a very wide range of practical skills and knowledge required for working in the within Film, TV, theatre and media makeup industry. The programme opens up career opportunities as a hair and makeup artist either working in fashion, television or other media areas, usually working freelance. There are also opportunities available for progression onto Higher Education and further study either at HNC, HND or degree level, depending on prior experience and qualifications. Achievement of this qualification demonstrates to an employer that you have the necessary advanced technical skills to be employed as a trainee Make-up Artist working in film TV and/or theatre. This qualification could lead to a career in the following areas: • Theatre make-up artist • Make-up artist or Film and/or TV • Trainee Makeup artist/wig specialist in film/TV or theatre • Make-up designer There will be optional extra-curricular activities at an additional cost. These may include visits to course-appropriate venues, professional workshops and residential visits.
You will need to be over 16 and have achieved a full Level 2 in Beauty Therapy or a Media Make-up qualification, a good reference and a successful interview. Each candidate will be considered on their experience, suitability and previous course references showing good attendance and behaviour and a genuine interest in the make-up industry. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.
