Course summary

Sociology is the study of society and of people and their behaviour. A level of sociology includes a range of topics such as Families and Households, Education, Crime and Deviance and Beliefs in Society. In studying these topics, sociologists create theories that seek to explain human behaviour and the workings of society. These theories often develop from various perspectives such as Functionalism, Marxism or Feminism. Sociology is an evidence-based subject, which means it is not simply based on personal opinion, but methodically collected evidence. Research can be carried out in several different ways, for example, interviews, questionnaires, observations and secondary sources. If you are interested in how society works, then Sociology is the subject for you.
