Course summary

The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Engineering is a perfect course for learning the basics needed for most engineering sectors. It is a two year course, and provides the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills in the design, development and manufacture and maintenance of engineering products and systems. The course is both practical and work related and follows a manufacturing pathway developed by BTEC. Learning is achieved through the completion of projects, assignments and sitting exams based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. The course will require plenty of home study and some assessments may take the form of tests. Unit 1: Engineering Principles (this may require additional maths and physics for some students) Unit 2: Delivery of Engineering Processes Safely as a Team Unit 3: Engineering Product Design and Manufacture BTEC Level 3 Engineering 50 Unit 10: Computer Aided Design in Engineering

Entry requirements

Grade Merit in Engineering Level 2 and 6 in GCSE Maths and 6 in GCSE Physics.

How you'll be assessed

Unit 1: Two-hour exam externally assessed. Unit 3: Synoptic which is 15 hours externally assessed. Units 2 & 10: Internally assessed assignments
