Course summary

Maths is a facilitating subject, which means that it will help you to study lots of other subjects and pursue lots of different careers. Mathematics in Context reflects the content of the new GCSE in Mathematics and is measured as a Level 3 qualification, accredited by Ofqual, and equivalent in size to an AS qualification. The course is split into two topic areas comprehension and application. Both comprehension and application cover the following topics: • Applications of statistics. • Probability. • Linear programming. • Sequences and growth.

Entry requirements

Grade 4 in GCSE Mathematics.

How you'll be assessed

There are two papers, each is one hour forty minutes long. The comprehension paper is worth 40% of the qualification and the application paper is worth 60% of the qualification. This is a one year course and both papers must be sat in the same year.
