Course summary

Geography is a subject that combines well with almost all other A Level courses and students with A Level Geography have access to a wide range of possible higher educational opportunities and careers. It is a subject that covers a breadth of topics and integrates numeracy and literacy skills into the methods of study. Employers and universities like to see that students have studied Geography. This is known to be one of the most employable subjects due to the diversity of modules you can study at degree level.

Entry requirements

Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 9—5 (or equivalent) including Grade 5 in Geography, Mathematics, English and Science. Ideally a grade 6 in Geography.

Unit 1: Written examination - 2 hours 30 mins Weighting: 40% of total A level mark (96 marks) Unit 2: Written examination – 2 hour 30mins Weighting: 40% of total A level mark (96 marks) Unit 3: Individual investigation 3,000 – 4,000 words (teacher marked/moderated externally) 20% of total A level mark (35 marks)
