Course summary

A-level physics is for those who want to find out how and why the natural world works as it does, and covers a wide range of physics topics which study a range of phenomena, from the tiniest scale of sub-atomic particles to the very beginning of the cosmos. An enthusiasm for the subject will be developed along the way, and practising students will end up with a high level of mathematical, communication and thinking skills. This course is for anyone who enjoys problem-solving and it will help pave the way for prospective engineers, physicists, and other science specialisms, as well as a general foundation for practical and mathematical careers. We will follow the OCR A Level course and over the 2 years the modules that will be studied are: Module 1 – Development of practical skills in physics Module 2 – Foundations of physics Module 3 – Forces and motion Module 4 – Electrons, waves and photons Module 5 – Newtonian world and astrophysics A Level Physics 40 Module 6 – Particles and medical physics

Entry requirements

Grade 6 in GCSE Physics, Core or additonal Sciences and Grade 5 in GCSE Maths.

How you'll be assessed

This course is 100% exam-based, papers are sat at the end of the 2- year course. Practical skills will be assessed within the written examinations and in lessons.
