Course summary

Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour. You will gain an understanding of how psychologists conduct their research, before examining a wide range of areas within psychology. You will seek to answer questions such as, why do people obey authority? How do children learn aggressive behaviours? How reliable are eyewitnesses' memories? In the second year, we take a deep dive into mental health, studying the causes of mental health disorders and various ways in which they can be treated. Forensic psychology examines the causes of criminal behaviour, how can we reduce this, and what effect prison has on people. Other topics include Sports Psychology and how we perform in front of an audience. How do we work effectively as part of a team, and how can we manage anxiety? Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSE subjects graded 9-5 including English and Maths and 2 GCSE subjects graded 9-6 including Maths or Science.
