The Art department offers A’ Level Photography by AQA. This course allows you to study a range of techniques and genres through digital and traditional photographic processes.
Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4 (or equivalent) including Grade 5 in Art or Photography. (Grade 4 may be considered)
Coursework 60% - A personal investigation chosen by you based on a theme or style of photography which you like. In year 12 you will start the course by experimenting and exploring possible ideas which will enable you to confidently complete this extended project. You will be inspired by appropriate photographers and create several final outcomes. If you have not previously taken a Photography qualification you will be taught all the required skills. In year 13 you will also be required to write a 1-3000 word essay which is based on your theme. Externally Set Task 40% - The exam paper is issued on February 1st and provides a broad range of themed questions for you to choose from. You will select one question to investigate, explore and develop prior to the exam. The final outcome will be created during a 15 hour practical exam.
