This course is designed for those with a keen interest in the food industry and how it operates, and the impact of food science and nutrition upon individuals and society. The course is delivered through a pratical programme involving research into the industry, the science behind it, and the skills needed. What areas are covered by the course? Units include: ● Nutritional needs of specific groups and how these can be met. ● The science of food safety and hygiene. ● Food production in the home and industry. ● Current issues in food science and nutrition.
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above (including English, Maths, and Science) is desirable.
The course is assessed through a combination of internal and external assessment.
