If you’re considering a career in the beauty industry, this is the start for you. This VTCT qualification is a Technical Certificate qualification aimed at learners who wish to pursue a career as an employed and/or self-employed beauty therapist. In this one-year course, you will learn the: • Health safety and hygiene • Consultation techniques and client care • Manicure treatments • Pedicure treatments • Waxing services • Facial treatments • Skin type analysis • Eyebrow shaping services • Eyelash and eyebrow tinting services • Make-up applications • Anatomy and physiology for beauty therapists Throughout this course, you will develop the knowledge, understanding, and skills to consult with clients whilst providing a range of beauty treatments. You will also develop your communication and customer service skills, awareness of environmental sustainability, and commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem solving, teamwork working and research skills will also be developed.
GCSE English and maths at grade 3 or above, or Level 1 Functional Skills, or completion of our Future Pathways course.
To be awarded this qualification learners must achieve a Pass (or higher) grade in the: • All mandatory units graded practical assessment - Externally set, internally. Assesses practical performance at the unit level. • The external examinations - Externally set and externally marked examinations. Overarching examinations that assess knowledge and understanding from the breadth of mandatory units at the end of the learning period. • The graded synoptic assessment - Externally set, internally marked. Comprises a range of treatments that assess the application of knowledge, understanding, and skills from across the breadth of mandatory units. They are conducted at the end of the period of learning. • Treatment portfolio - Externally set and internally marked. A prerequisite evidence requirement at the unit level must be completed before learners undertake graded practical assessments, external examinations, and graded synoptic assessments.
