This course offers a unique opportunity for students to identify and solve real problems by designing and making products in a wide range of contexts relating to their personal interests. Design and technology develop a wide range of skills and encourage imagination, innovative thinking, creativity, and independence. Students will also consider the broader impact that design and manufacture have on the world and be encouraged to show an awareness of this in their work.
In addition to the general requirements of entry to the Sixth Form we would normally expect a grade 5 or above in GCSE Design & Technology, GCSE Engineering or equivalent.
1 - Principles of Product Design Written Exam (1hr 30mins) 80 marks available (23.3%) 2 - Problem Solving in Product Design Written Exam (1hr 45mins) 70 marks available (23.3%) 3 - Iterative Design Non-Exam Assessment 100 marks available (50%) (Approx 65 Hrs)
