Course summary

Studying psychology will provide you with many transferable skills. It will enable you to view the world from different perspectives and give you the confidence to fluently put across your point of view. It will develop your critical reasoning skills and allow you to analyze and interpret data.

Entry requirements

General requirements of entry to the Sixth Form apply. We would normally expect a grade 5 or higher in Mathematics.

How you'll be assessed

Psychology is the study of mind and behavior. Why is it that some people suffer from stress and mental illness? Why do some fear snakes yet others keep them as pets? Psychology looks at questions such as these. It is a science, therefore topical research and its application to real life are studied and analyzed. Paper 1: Social Influence, Memory and Attachment. Multiple choice, short answers, and extended writing. Paper 2 – Approaches in Psychology, Psychopathology, and Research Methods. Multiple choice, short answers, and extended writing. Paper 3: Issues and Debates in Psychology plus relationships, Schizophrenia and aggression (33% of A level). Multiple choice, short answers, and extended writing.
