Course summary
The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care aims to provide an introduction to the sector. It is for students who are interested in learning about the health and social care sector as part of a balanced programme of study. It is equivalent in size to one A Level. Students choosing the Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care will be assessed in four separate units (units 1, 2, 5 and 14), of which three are mandatory units for the exam board. Two of these units are internally assessed and the other two are externally assessed. Internally assessed units - Students must complete at least one optional unit 14, all of which are internally marked and require students to submit evidence towards a given assessment criteria. This means that the teacher delivers the unit sets and assesses the assignment that provides the final summative assessment of each unit.
