A Level French is a two year course which will give you the opportunity to study a range of topics, including ‘la famille en voie de changement, la «cyber-société», le rôle du bénévolat, les aspects positifs d’une société diverse, une culture fière de son patrimoine, et les ados, le droit de vote et l’engagement politique’. In addition to this, you will study a French film and novel. Many students who enjoy and successfully complete this subject typically progress onto a range of degree courses including Languages and other disciplines such as Medicine, Law and Humanities.
A minimum of 5x Grade 5s, including English Language and Grade 6 in your chosen language.
You are assessed in two exams at the end of Year 2. In addition to listening and reading comprehensions, you will translate and summarise unseen texts, and write one essay in your chosen language on the literary text, and one on the film. Your speaking ability is assessed in a 20-minute unscripted speaking test.
