The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Sports Coaching is intended for students who want to progress directly to employment in an assistant coaching role. This qualification is also suitable for those wishing to progress to higher education, where students would have the added advantage of using it to obtain part time employment while studying. This is a career-focused qualification with industry endorsement and accreditation. It enables students to develop underpinning knowledge and technical skills and to gain experience as an assistant coach.
Students must have achieved a minimum of Grade 5 or above in both English and Mathematics and Grade 5 (equivalent) in at least 3 other GCSE/Level 2 qualifications. A Grade 5 or above in Physical Education at GCSE or a Merit or above in BTEC Sport is also required
This course comprises 100% internally assessed coursework, including practical assessment on leading activities and coaching.
