Course summary

Business organizations provide us with goods and services on a local and national scale. You will learn about how businesses start up, how they are managed successfully, and what can go wrong. You will learn how workers are recruited and managed, how products are made and marketed, and how a business manages its finances. In Year 13 we look at business from a wider perspective, including how the UK and world economies affect our everyday lives. HND Business NVQ training alongside employment. Degree-level courses in Business, Management, Marketing, Finance, and Accounting. Setting up your own business either as a full-time venture or alongside employment. Your employment opportunities in ANY business should be enhanced by the knowledge and skills that you will have gained.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade 6 or above, including English and Maths. None of our course's demand that you have studied Business before, just that you have an interest in it. However, because of the requirements of the exams you must have achieved at least a grade 5/C in English and Maths GCSE before you start the course.

How you'll be assessed

A-level assessment consists of three x 2-hour written exams taken at the end of the two-year course. Each exam will be worth a third of the A-level. All three papers will draw on material from the whole course and will feature a range of question styles including multiple choice questions, short answer questions, essay questions, data response questions, and case studies. Topic 2 – Managers, leadership and decision-making Topic 3 – Decision-making to improve marketing performance Topic 4 – Decision-making to improve operational performance Topic 5 – Decision-making to improve financial performance Topic 6 – Decision making to improve human resource performance Year 2. Year 2 Content Topic 7 – Analysing the strategic position of a business Topic 8 – Choosing the strategic direction Topic 9 – Strategic methods: how to pursue strategies Topic 10 – Managing strategic change.
