Over a two year course you will develop a range of practical skills and theoretical knowledge in the areas of Chemical, Biochemical and Microbiological Laboratory Techniques, Genetics, Physiology and Applied Chemistry. Many students who enjoy and successfully complete this course progress onto Higher Education or employment in the science industry. Applied Science covers all corners of science, dipping in to aspects of chemistry and biology, combining this with maths and industrial science.
For our Advanced Vocational courses our entry requirements are a minimum of 5x GCSEs at Grade 4, Maths or English Language or Literature at Grade 4 and Grade 3 in the others. Some courses and subjects will have additional specific entry requirements or require DBS clearance to undertake placements. Additional Requirements: Grade 4/4 in GCSE Combined Science or Grade 4 in Biology and Chemistry.
You will be required to produce scientific laboratory reports and analyse and evaluate results to reach conclusions.
