Course summary

This course provides opportunities to learn about people, the world and how it has developed, and the historical events that have shaped society. It enables students to research and analyze material in relation to bias and propaganda. How the course is taught? The course is taught using a wide variety of teaching techniques including traditional lecture-style lessons, class discussions and debates, which help to develop excellent verbal communication skills, and analysis of archive film footage. Critical thinking and literacy skills are developed through extended writing tasks. What areas are covered by the course? The course covers 20th Century Modern World History including British, German and American units of study.

Entry requirements

5 or more GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C or above (including Maths and/or English as appropriate). A GSCE Grade 6 in History and English is desirable, however other grades will be considered. In this case, an interview with a member of the History Department is essential.

How you'll be assessed

The course combines coursework and examination. Coursework is internally assessed and externally moderated, whilst the examination will be externally assessed and moderated.
