This two year course aims to provide students with the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification and equips students with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress into further or higher education, or training and apprenticeships in the creative sector. It is a stimulating and demanding course designed for those who have an interest in the visual arts, giving you the opportunity to explore and develop your creativity.
A minimum of 5 x Grade 4s, including English and Art or Graphic Products/Textiles Technology.
Through a portfolio of evidence which is internally and externally assessed and moderated. At the start of the course, you will be set theme based projects designed to develop visual language, research skills, 2D and 3D problem solving and critical and contextual awareness in Art & Design. In Year 1, you will complete Unit 1 in response to a theme set by the exam board, with work being presented and evaluated in exam conditions. In Year 2, you will complete Unit 2, the Final Major Project. Units 1 & 2 are assessed as Pass, Merit or Distinction, each forming 50% of your grade.
