Over a two year course you will be encouraged to develop the theoretical knowledge of the scientific principles that underpin sporting performance. Many students who enjoy and successfully complete this course progress onto a wide range of Higher Education sport courses. As well as studying for the BTEC Extended Diploma qualification, students will also have the opportunity to work towards sports leadership and coaching awards.
For our Advanced Vocational courses our entry requirements are a minimum of 5x GCSEs at Grade 4, Maths or English Language or Literature at Grade 4 and Grade 3 in the others. Some courses and subjects will have additional specific entry requirements or require DBS clearance to undertake placements. Information about this can be found on the Apply Portal, and on your offer letter which you will receive after your interview. Minimum requirement: Grade 4 in Additional Science or Biology.
Assessment methods are varied to meet the needs of all students and to ensure a wide variety of skills are developed. In sport we use a state-of-the-art online system to hand in and to mark student work. Ways that we assess include the following: • experiments • reports • essays • presentations • interviews • practical/observation
