The BTEC National in Sport enables you to develop your understanding of the essential skills and knowledge needed when looking to build a career in sport. The course provides you with training in areas that are key to the study of sports performance and provides a foundation for starting professional work or progressing to further study. This course covers roughly the principles of anatomy and physiology in sports; fitness training and programming for Health, Sport, and Well-being; Professional development in the sports industry, and sports psychology. Five GCSEs at grade 4 and above. Plus a grade 4 in the relevant subject area. It is recommended that students achieve grade 4/C in GCSE PE (Physical Education) or a pass in BTEC L2 Sport.
Assessment is specifically designed to fit the purpose and objective of the qualification. It includes a range of assessment types and styles suited to vocational qualifications in the sector. There are three main forms of assessment: external, internal, and synoptic. Component 1: The styles of external assessment used for qualifications are: ▪ Examinations – all learners take the same assessment at the same time, normally with a written outcome –Unit -The Principles of Anatomy & Physiology in Sport. ▪ Synoptic/set tasks – learners take the assessment during a defined window and demonstrate understanding through completion of a vocational task – Unit - Fitness training and programming for Health, Sport and Well-being. Component 2: Internal assessments are usually done in the form of assignments which are set and marked by the module teacher. ▪ Units Professional development in the sports industry & Sports Psychology.
