In this course, you will learn how to develop design solutions as you explore how graphic design can communicate ideas and messages. A graphic designer is responsible for much of the design work that we see in our daily lives; logos, magazine layouts, advertisement campaigns, websites, and much more. This course encourages you to develop your powers of creativity, problem-solving, digital, traditional, and practical skills.
You will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 9 - 4 including an art-based subject, English Language, and maths. At interview, you are required to bring a portfolio/sketchbook of artwork with you. If you have not studied an art-based GCSE you will need to attend a second interview to present a portfolio.
This is a two-year A Level where you are examined on the whole course at the end of the second year. Each of your projects will be assessed as a portfolio of work. You will undertake several projects and will learn to work creatively to fulfill a brief. To prepare for external exams, you will carry out a program of weekly tests, exam-style assessments, and Formal Progress Points where you will monitor your attendance, how hard you are working, and your academic progress. You will progress through a Year 1 Gateway that will allow you to progress to Year 2.
