BTEC sport provides opportunities to practice developing essential employability skills, making this the ideal course for students who want to continue their education through applied learning and who aim to progress to higher education and employment in the sports sector. The qualification provides the knowledge, understanding, and skills that will allow learners to gain first-hand experience in the sports sector which will prepare them for further study or training, however, it also allows students to gain transferrable skills such as research, analysis, and evaluation - skills that can be vital in any job. Pass in English and maths, 5 or more grades at 5+ (this can include English and maths), if Sport or PE have been studied at KS4 then a Merit or a grade 5 is required.
Students are assessed both through external examinations and internal assessments and will be expected to draw on their learning from across the BTEC program. Unit 3 – Professional Development in the Sports Industry will be internally assessed through the use of various assignments set by your class teacher.
