Course summary

Students will study technological and social change, looking at the multicultural nature of Hispanic society. Students will look at highlights of Hispanic artistic culture, including a focus on Spanish regional identity and the cultural heritage of past civilizations, the political landscape of the Hispanic world, and the influence of the past on present-day communities. Throughout the course, students learn the language in the context of Hispanic countries alongside the issues and influences that have shaped them. Students will study texts and film and will have the opportunity to carry out independent research on an area of their choice. Spanish at A level will help to enrich the knowledge of those who already had a passion for the subject at GCSE. Being able to speak Spanish brings many academic benefits - given the rich artistic and literary history of the language, studying this Spanish A-level course will enhance any further study in arts-based subjects.
