Within A-level Photography students will explore a wide mix of traditional skills, techniques as well as Photoshop and how to use DSLR cameras. The course includes working in the studio; creating moving images; digital imaging and darkroom methods. Students will research art history to inspire their work from wide ranging sources and be able to communicate ideas through sketching with cameras and presenting them in both journal and online formats. Through encouraging group work students are better prepared for Higher Education within the visual arts.
A minimum of 5 GCSE passes at grade 5 and above is preferable.
Examination arrangements and weightings: AS Component 1: Art and Design coursework = (50% AS). AS Component 2: Externally Set Assignment = (50% AS) Preparation period followed by an 10 hour exam. A2 Component 1: Art and Design Coursework = (60% A2) A2 Component 2: Externally Set Assignment = (40% A2) Preparation period followed by a 15 hour exam.
