Business students enjoy a vast range of business-related topics that are covered throughout this course and subsequently will have a broad range of knowledge of all aspects of the business world by the end of Year 13. The course is taught and assessed in various ways which means that every student should enjoy their studies. The course gives students transferrable skills that will equip students for many different career paths, a qualification in business can open many doors for students in terms of pathways to higher education while boosting their future employability. BTEC business gives students good opportunities to develop employability skills that are relevant to the world of work or for going on to higher education, such as the ability to negotiate, influence, think critically, and develop resilience. Students will prepare and deliver presentations and will work and lead in group situations. All students will develop analytical and creative skills to solve problems and evaluate outcomes, using systems and technology where appropriate. Studying this course will allow you to develop a critical understanding of different businesses and to immerse yourself in a business-like mindset. Pass in English and maths, 5 or more grades at 5+ (this can include English and maths), if business has been studied at KS4, then a grade 5 or a Merit is required.
Students will be assessed continually through practical project work, presentations, coursework, written assignments, and time-constrained assignments with a mixture of internal and external assessments. To progress into the second year of this BTEC course, students will be expected to have achieved satisfactory grades for the first year of the course.
