Theatrical Makeup
Course summary
This level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in make-up artistry aims to provide you with a range of essential technical and practical skills as well as the knowledge that will equip you to seek employment or further training within the make-up industry. You will also be required to complete 37 hours external work experience and an employer involvement programme. If you are aged 16 to 18, you will be enrolled on a study programme. This will include retaking GCSEs or undertaking Functional Skills in English and maths if you haven’t already achieved a grade 4 or above. You will take part in activities that help you to develop your personal skills, such as building your character and confidence. This will help you to live well and move into your chosen career. This qualification covers all the core skills you will need to progress to further learning and training or to enter the world of work within the make-up industry. You will study the following: -Working in film, TV, and theatre industries -The creation and presentation of a look book and an industry portfolio -Fashion and photographic make-up -Media makeup creative hair design -Creative historical hair and make-up (recreating historical looks such as Egyptian, Renaissance, Elizabethan, Victorian, Edwardian through to 20th Century hair makeup) -Applying full body art -Cosmetic camouflage make-up -Specialist bridal hair and make-up -Cutting and styling techniques for performers -Avante-garde hair and make-up -Media make-up blogging
