The Drama & Theatre Studies course covers both practical and theoretical aspects of the subject. Whereas GCSE primarily focuses on developing students as performers, at advanced level students develop their directing and technical/designing skills, as well as learning more sophisticated and varied styles of performance. They will watch and analyse a variety of live productions, looking at both established work in the west end and fresh new productions touring locally.
- Sixth Form entry requirements, including English at grade 6 or Drama at grade B or 6 (if studied at GCSE). - At least eight grade 4s at GCSEs including English and Mathematics and at least four grade 6's at GCSE, including a 6 in the subjects chosen where relevant, or in the case of a student not studying the subject at GCSE, a 6 is needed in the closest subject (s) they have studied at GCSE
Unit 1 - 3 hr exam accounting for 40% of the A-Level includes knowledge of drama and theatre, study of two set plays and analysis and evaluation of the work of theatre. Unit 2 - Accounting for 30% of the A-Level including process of creating and performance of devised drama assessed through a working notebook (40 marks) and performance (20 marks) Unit 3 - Account for 30% of the A-Level assessed through report (20 marks) and performance (40 marks) of three extracts from a different play
