When combined with Sociology or Geography it offers a good base for a degree in Social or Environmental Sciences. Combining Sports Science with Business Studies offers a pathway into Sports Management and Business, including the world of the Sports Agent and Coaching.
Sixth Form entry requirements: To study 1 BTEC and 2/3 A Levels ? at least 6 grade 4 or above at GCSE including English and Mathematics and at least three grade 6 at GCSE. To study 2 BTECs (or double BTEC) and one or two A Levels ? at least 5 grade 4 or above at GCSE including English and Mathematics and at least two grade 6 at GCSE. In addition, at least a GCSE grade 6 or BTEC level 2 at Merit in a sport related qualification.
Unit 1: Written 1.5hr examination (worth up to 32 points) Unit 2: Written synoptic 2.5hr assessment, set and marked by Pearson (worth up to 32 points) Unit 3: Internal assessment (worth up to 16 points) Unit 5: Internal assessment (worth up to 16 points) The overall BTEC grade will be based on total points along with minimum requirements in each unit. The BTEC is awarded at Pass, Merit, Distinction or Distinction*.
