To provide the logical progression from GCSE Art & Design for potential artists/designers, and also for students aiming to attend art college, university courses and careers in the field of Graphics, Art & Design. This two year course involves 2 components – a personal investigation and an externally set assignment. Candidates will need to produce practical and critical/contextual work in one or more areas including: illustration, advertising, packaging design, design for print, communication and computer graphics, multimedia, animation, web design, film, television and/or video.
5 GCSEs graded at 4 or above (counting 2 BTECs maximum) A grade 4 in English or Maths The normal entry requirements for advanced courses apply including a grade 4 achieved in GCSE Art & Design. Candidates without these qualifications would be considered through a portfolio entry which must be submitted prior to starting the course.
All work is assessed by the centre and moderated by the Examination Board ● Component 1 – Coursework (60% of the total A level marks) ● Component 2 – Externally Set Assignment - (40% of the total A level marks)
