This course develops powers of analysis & the ability to write well-organised, well-argued essays. The A-level Non Examined Assessment component provides opportunities for students to pursue their own areas of interest & develop personal & independent learning skills. It also works well in combination with other subjects, particularly Psychology, Criminology, History, Sociology and Philosophy & Ethics. English is a widely accepted access course for university for courses which students may not have studied at A level. It provides a sound background for careers in all fields. This two year English Language and Literature course encourages students to engage creatively & independently with a variety of spoken, written & multi-modal texts. Designed with a focus on the integration of language & literature, the course enables students to see how linguistic & literary methods are related & to explore these links in their work.
