Drama and Theatre Studies A Level is a predominantly practical course, which seeks to develop an advanced level of drama performance whilst focusing on the creation and evaluation of live theatre. Students will be exploring the social, cultural and historical contexts of performance and how this has shaped drama and theatre. Students will be expected to analyse theatre; participate as a theatre maker and as an audience member in live theatre.
Standard entry requirements: 5 GCSEs graded at 4 or above (counting 2 BTECs maximum). A grade 4 in English or Maths Students should also have achieved Grade 5 English language GCSE and Drama (if studied). A commitment to extra-curricular Drama would be advisable.
Component 1- Internally assessed and externally moderated. Practical performance, with written coursework. 20% Component 2- Externally assessed by a visiting examiner. Practical performance, with written coursework. 40% Component 3- Externally assessed- written exam. 40%
