Do you have an adventurous, inquisitive and creative mind? This is the course for you if you enjoy drawing and painting, printmaking and working in 3D. A Level Art offers you the chance to work with a variety of different materials, processes and techniques to explore different ways of expressing yourself and the world in which we live.
- Ideally you need Level 4 or above at GCSE, in both Art and English. There is a written element to Art A Level and, as well as getting involved creatively in your practical portfolio, you also need to write an extended essay that connects to your practical portfolio. - All students must have gained a minimum of five grades 9-4 at GCSE to gain entry onto Level 3 courses, which should include English and Maths at GCSE.
Your work in Art is continually assessed throughout the course by your class teachers. Feedback will be informal and verbal each lesson. You will also have feedback forms and assessment sheets that we use regularly to give you a clear indication of how your work is being judged against the exam boards assessment objectives. Exam 60% of final mark and Coursework 40% of Final Mark.
