The BTEC National Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care offers students the opportunity to build skills, technical knowledge and understanding. The course will allow students to develop an understanding of the diverse and complex nature of the Health and Social Care sector. This is a vocational subject which means it has been developed to provide a basis for further training, education or to move into appropriate employment within the health and social care sector. Successful students will be able to progress into further study, such as degrees, Higher National Diplomas or NVQs or continue into training or relevant employment.
Normal entry requirements: 5 GCSEs graded at 4 or above (counting 2 BTECs maximum). A grade 4 in English or Maths In addition to the normal entry requirements for an advanced course, students must have a grade 4 in GCSE English.
The course is assessed through a combination of external written examinations and internal coursework portfolios.
