Course summary

This programme of study is a practical, work related course aimed at teaching you about the science industry and employment area you have chosen. You will be developing the skills you will need to start your career or move into Higher Education and there is a focus on the practical elements of the subject. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demand as well as completing external exams in both first and second year. The first year of the course allows you to achieve a Foundation Diploma in Applied Science. On successful completion you may progress to the second year and complete a Diploma or Extended Diploma in Applied Science (Biomedical Science). Most students progress onto science or health related courses/careers and the biomedical element of the second year enables students to study more specific units. The wide range of subjects taught enables a breadth of choice on completion.
