Course summary

You will gain a solid grounding in Physical and Human Geography, The course will broaden and deepen your existing knowledge, and challenge what you think you know about the planet. With an exciting mix of theory and fieldwork, Geography offers you the freedom at A2 to choose your own area of research. You will learn to think analytically and write better. Reading and watching documentaries are intergral parts of the homework associated with success. You will develop a variety of skills as you study contemporary geographical issues. These include investigative, statistical, graphical and cartographic techniques. So, there’s photography, mapping and Maths all involved and examined. You will have the opportunity to go on two day trips for AS Geography and a residential fieldtrip as part of the A2 course. The day trips will be free and the residential will carry a charge. Both will help you develop the skills to gain a higher mark in your independent investigation.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs A* to C (9 to 4) including a Grade B (5 to 6) or above in Geography.

How you'll be assessed

AS – Two exams (each worth 50%) A Level – Two exams (each worth 40%) and an independent geographical investigation (worth 20%)
