The City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming is an accredited course for people who are interested in Dog Grooming professionally, allowing you to develop the practical skills you need to work independently as a dog groomer or stylist. To complete this qualification, you must have completed the ‘City and Guilds Level 2 Dog Grooming Assistants’ qualification previously. This Level 3 course enables you to develop your skills in a variety of areas in grooming, styling, and clipping, as such delivery methods are very practical, you will work on clients’ dogs in our specialist facilities to cover dog styling and finishing. You will also learn theory relating to legislation, dog health, dog behavior, and administration. What will I learn? • Health and safety • Legislation and codes of practice for the dog grooming industry • Styling and finishing a dog • Health checking and handling a dog in a dog grooming environment • Customer service and record keeping in a dog grooming environment
You will need to have achieved a Level 2 City and Guilds Dog Grooming qualification.
You will be required to spend an additional 4 to 5 hours a week independently studying the theory elements with guidance from your tutor. You will be assessed practically and by written coursework and online examination towards the end of the course. You will require suitable clothing and your dog grooming kit, details of specific requirements will be given when you attend an information event. On completion, you could progress to employment as a dog groomer, either self-employed or working for a larger organisation.
