Religious Studies (Philosophy & Ethics) is a thought provoking subject that analyses the nature of reality. Philosophy literally means a love of wisdom and is a quest for trust and knowledge, an ability to distinguish between doxa (opinion) and episteme (knowledge). It examines the three R’s; what is Real (metaphysics), what is Right (ethics) and what is Rational and reasonable belief. The subject is highly respected by universities because it develops key skills of analysis and enquiry which are transferrable across many subjects. - Grade 5 in RS and English Language or Literature. Students who have achieved a grade 6 in Religious Studies will be better prepared to meet the course demands. - Entry: 8 or more GCSE grades 9-4, including English and Maths at grade 5+
Students are assessed using three written examinations, each worth 33.3%
