Course summary

A 2 year course, AS Level is taken at the end of Year 1 and the A2 (2016) or full A Level sat at then of the two year course Sociology is the study of society and social behaviour. This includes how the influence of our families, mass media, education, religion, international relations, crime, social class, race and gender affect our thinking and behaviour. By studying sociology you will learn to think critically and independently about society and your place in it, gain the tools to think for yourself and develop a critical and informed understanding of the world around you. AS level Units: Unit 1: Education with Methods In Context Unit 2: Research Methods & Topics in Sociology

Entry requirements

Students require a minimum of 5 GCSE at Grade 6 or above (or equivalent), including English and Mathematics.

How you'll be assessed

Exam - you will be expected to sit the AS Level exam at the end of Year 12 and A Level at end of Year 13. At AS Level: Unit 1: 1hr 30min written exam. Unit 2: 1hr 30min written exam.
