In Geology we learn how to read the ancient history of the planet. You'll learn all the theory, techniques and skills you need to turn a lump of rock into a story of ancient continents, long extinct life, volcanic eruptions and eons of slow and infinitely patient time. The syllabus is varied and interesting, including a minimum of three field trips a year. We learn by drawing, experimenting and sometimes by writing, to explore the engaging back story of our home planet.
As a minimum, you will need (or equivalent to); GCSE Mathematics grade 4 GCSE English Language or Literature grade 4 Plus three more GCSEs at grade 4.
There are three exams. The exams combine practical techniques, map drawing, map interpretation and short answer data response questions. There are no essays. The exams test how well you can read the evidence of rocks.
