
A Level Architecture at All Hallows is the only course of its kind in the area. A practical, creative and theoretical subject focused purely on the exploration, critique and design of the built environment. A Level Architecture is an art specialist subject that uses as its foundation the OCR Critical and Contextual Studies in Art specification. It is principally a design based course which incorporates the conception and realisation of ideas underpinned with critical theory and technical understanding. This is a truly innovative subject which spans a range of disciplines employing elements from Art, Design, Engineering, History, Geography and Critical Writing ensuring that every students has the breadth of understanding required to create imaginative and challenging structures that have their grounding in reality. Students will create a journal record of their ideas, present research and participate in field trips and will produce a portfolio of work to include drawings, computer aided rendering and Contextual studies. Completion of this course will set you up beautifully for undergraduate study in the Architecture, Interior Architecture or Interior Design but would also give you an incredibly coherent and inspired portfolio to support any design based subject. What it can lead to Architecture, Interior Architecture and Interior Design as University choices. Additionally, any design subject will appreciate the skills and knowledge on show in your portfolio. Town planning, Engineering and Construction are also fields that could be complemented by an understanding of the Build Environment. The majority of students who take this course get offered their first choice Architecture or Design based Degree course.
