
What is this subject about? In this course, we study society and the people within it. We investigate the central aspects of sociological thought and method, together with the application of a range of skills. It is designed to allow the integration of sociological themes, such as socialisation, culture and identity, power and differentiation. In Sociology we critically examine the way society has developed and currently operates. Considering questions such as: What are the factors affecting a child’s chances of succeeding in the education system? Can we eradicate poverty in our society? Do men commit more crime than women? Are media technologies strengthening the power of existing elites? What will I study over the two years?
