Course summary

Life is fascinating. Asking how life first began, or when, or where, and why life now looks like it does are important questions biologists are trying to answer today. A Level Biology will enable you to study life from the smallest single-celled organism to the most complex and interconnected communities or organisms, how they function, how they have evolved and how they survive (or not, sadly) in our changing world. Biology is concerned with living things and with many of today’s problems. As such, studying biology could give you the skills to overcome sickness, produce more food and conserve natural resources. Biologists work in many fields but some of the main areas of employment are health services, agricultural services, environmental protection, food sciences, education and in the pharmaceutical industry.
