Course summary

The first year of the course is an introductory overview of several different strands of Psychology. Lessons will involve discussion, note-taking, group activities and experiments. We will look at studies which have gone before, including famous ones which have paved the way to our current understanding. It is an interesting and eye-opening course which has become very popular at Brookfield, but please note that in no way is it an ‘easy option’. In the 1st Year of the A level we cover the following 6 topics: Human Memory; Childhood Attachment; Social Influence; Approaches in Psychology; Mental Illness & Psychopathology; Research Methods. In the 2nd year of the A level we will learn about: Forensic Psychology; Love & Relationships; Schizophrenia; Biopsychology; Issues & Debates; Research Methods & Statistics.
