What is this course about? Why study the course? Chemistry attempts to answer the big question ‘what is the world made of’, and it is the search for this answer that makes this subject so fascinating. From researching a new wonder drug to save millions of lives or developing a new lighter and cheaper battery or a carbon dioxide capture material to slow global warming, Chemistry is at the forefront of tackling the biggest global issues we face. Where can this course take you? Chemistry A-Level is regarded as one of, if not, the most challenging A-Level to study. It is therefore very highly regarded. There are many careers that an A-Level Chemistry can lead to: • Science & Research - research scientist (physical sciences), forensic scientist, analytical chemist • Medicine & Healthcare - doctor, nurse, pharmacologist, toxicologist, clinical biochemist • Engineering - chemical engineer • Education & Communication - science journalist, secondary school teacher, higher education lecturer • Law and Finance - Patent attorney, Chartered certified accountant
