There are three components to the Philosophy and Ethics course: Philosophy and Religion - Tackling the 'big questions' raised by religious beliefs; you will explore philosophical language, the nature of God and arguments for His very existence. You will learn about th eviews of thinkers such as Aristotle and Plato, as well as more modern and controversial thinkers such as Sigmund Freud. Ethics - You will study a range of ethical issues alongside the lives and theories of key thinkers such as Immanuel Kant and Joseph Fletcher. You will explore topics such as business ethics, sexual ethics and euthanasia as well as discovering the history and development of ethical reasoning. Development in Christian thoughts - This will take you back to the origins of the Christian Church, delving into the complexity of Christian theology and how it continues to change. You will also discover how Christians are responding to the challenges of modernity including sexism, globalisation and multiculturalism. We also examine the role that German Christians should have had during Nazi Germany, and what constitutes 'good' Christian action.
